Global and Transnational Studies

Why study Global and Transnational Studies at Westminster College?

Global and Transnational Studies focuses on the pressing international problems facing today’s world. These issues are not simply about the interplay of nations, national perspectives, or the study of different regions of the world. Instead, the issues revolve around problems such as the environment, economic development, social justice, global conflict, immigration, and cross-cultural connectivity—all of which are interdisciplinary, interconnected, and involve international cooperation. Whether the problems are global in scope or more localized, Global and Transnational Studies fundamentally deals with ideas and processes that flow across borders.

Global and Transnational Studies concentrates on developing the ability of majors to analyze these complex and shifting international problems and to develop future solutions. The major serves students interested in careers in international business, government, and the global non-profit sector. Majors will be well equipped to continue post-graduate work in law, business, public policy, diplomacy, and related academic fields.
