Department(s): Biology and Environmental Science

Current Position

  • Assistant Professor of Biology and Environmental Science

Education

  • B.S., in Environmental Engineering from Missouri University of Science and Technology
  • Ph.D., in Energy, Environment, and Chemical Engineering from Washington University in St. Louis

Background

Dr. Loehr received a B.S. in Environmental Engineering from Missouri University of Science and Technology in Rolla, MO. She spent a short period of time as a consultant for an environmental consulting firm prior to pursing a graduate’s degree. She completed a Ph.D. in Energy, Environment, and Chemical Engineering at Washington University in St. Louis. There, she worked on the project “GreenHeart Louisville” by assessing spatial and temporal trends in air and noise pollution on a small, neighborhood level scale. In addition, she was awarded a fellowship from the Airport Cooperative Research Program to investigate ultrafine particles emitted from individual, cargo aircraft during arrival and departure.

Dr. Loehr became a member of the Westminster faculty in the fall of 2023. At Westminster, she teaches courses in the Environmental Science and Biology department like Intro to Environmental Science (ENV 105) and Beginning GIS (GEO 200) as well as interdisciplinary courses such as Introduction to Engineering (EGR 101) and Fundamentals of Data Science (MAT 115). She will be continuing research on spatiotemporal trends of air and noise pollution; and she is excited to integrate students within such projects. She is particularly interested in anthropogenic and biogenic sources of air and noise pollution within smaller urban cities such as Fulton, Missouri.

In her spare time, you can find her admiring nature on a run or walk, playing video games, or playing her violin for a local orchestra.
