Handshake
Handshake is a platform created for students, alumni, and WC supporters. Think LinkedIn but focused on the Blue Jay community. Members can communicate with each other through private messaging, scheduled phone calls, or through a variety of community groups. Alumni and supporter members participate because they feel strongly about helping students navigate the sometimes-tricky world of job searching and career exploration.
All WC students have access to Handshake, the largest career community for college students. Students get curated career support:
- Receive job and internship recommendations based on student interests
- Connect with employers in every industry
- Get an inside look at internships from other students
- Check into campus events and virtual career fairs from student phones
- Learn from students and alumni who landed jobs students want
Differences between HS and LinkedIn:
- Handshake is specific to early talent. They lead LinkedIn 30x in the 18-25 year old user accounts space. Recruiters come to Handshake because they know they have the students here.
- Handshake partners with career services. Career centers are able to boost and curate jobs to their students on Handshake helping them find the most relevant opportunities.
