The Assessment Committee will offer policies, monitor their effectiveness, and propose modifications as needed to guide the assessment process at Westminster College.
Retention and Access to Assessment Materials
All original assessment materials (e.g. surveys, portfolios, writing samples) completed by students will be retained by the Director of Assessment for a period of seven years.
Access to these materials will be restricted, without written approval, to the Director of Assessment, the Director of Institutional Research, the Dean of Faculty, the Associate Dean of Faculty, and the Dean of Students, or to their designated representatives.
Others wishing access to original assessment materials (e.g. for research purposes) should submit a written request to the Director of Assessment. The Director of Assessment will discuss the request with the Assessment Committee, and with the consent of the committee, may grant access to the materials.

Public Access to Summaries of Assessment Results
Summary results of institutional assessments of student learning (both indirect and direct measures) and measures of student satisfaction will be made available to all campus constituencies (i.e. students, faculty, staff, administration, and trustees). These results will include those for measures (both indirect and direct) of college mission statement goals, college learning goals, major learning goals, and internship experiences and will be summarized by academic division.

Use of Summaries of Assessment Results
Results of institutional assessments of student learning and measures of student satisfaction shall be used by appropriate college departments and units, both academic and non-academic, for the purpose of development and improvement of services offered by both academic and non-academic programs. Results of college-wide or major assessments of student learning and measures of student satisfaction shall not be used in the faculty or staff evaluation process unless written permission to do so has been given by the faculty or staff member in question.
