Study Abroad Programs
Exchange relationships enable Westminster students to trade places with peers at partner universities, with each student paying tuition & fees at their home institutions and often paying only for housing, meals, and other expenses while abroad.
Aberystwyth University - Aberystwyth, Wales - https://www.aber.ac.uk/en/
Aberystwyth University is located on the western coast of Wales, in the titular town of Aberystwyth, nestled between the Cambrian Mountains and Cardigan Bay. Aberystwyth is a diverse and welcoming community in a historic seaside market with a cosmopolitan Welsh culture. Students in Political Science, Security Studies, and Global and Transnational Studies can study at the world’s first Department of International Politics, founded in 1919 after the end of World War I to help people to understand the world.

Hanyang University is one of the top universities in South Korea with more than 10,000 international students and 1,000 courses instructed in English. Exchange students have many opportunities to participate in extracurricular activities to connect with local students for cultural exchanges, social activities and travel. Hanyang’s 'HY-BUDDY' program matches exchange students with a local Korean student to help them better adapt to Korea. Korean language proficiency is NOT required to study at Hanyang University, but all students are enrolled in an introductory level language course.

High achieving Westminster students have the opportunity to attend one of four universities in Northern Ireland:
- Queens University Belfast: one of the top twenty research-intensive institutions in the United Kingdom. Based in the heart of Belfast, a semester at Queen’s is a culturally immersive experience with a unique blend of European architecture, historic Irish pubs, and a buzzing art, social, and sporting scene. qub.ac.uk
- Ulster University: a national and international reputation for excellence with four distinct campuses across Northern Ireland in Belfast, Coleraine, Jordanstown, and Magee. - Mary’s University College: specializes in liberal arts and teacher training, and is integrated into the larger Queen’s University system. www.stmarysbelfast.ac.uk
- Stranmillis University College: highly recognized for its teacher training curriculum, but also offers courses in early childhood and health and leisure studies. Stranmillis is a college within the system of Queen’s University Belfast. stran.ac.uk

Kansai Gaidai University is a prosperous private institution located midway between Osaka, Kyoto, and Nara in the lovely city of Hirakata. The Asian Studies program offers students a variety of courses in Japan and Asia Studies taught by experienced faculty members in English. Japanese language proficiency is NOT required, but all students are enrolled in an introductory level language course.

L'Université Catholique de l'Ouest is one of the oldest universities in France, giving students the opportunity to explore the unique culture and historical heritage of Angers. Students enroll in courses with French and international students. An intermediate level of French is required to enroll.

UEA is a leading research institution offering students courses ranging from understanding the impact of Brexit to generating clean energy from bio-batteries. UEA sits just outside of the medieval town of Norwich, England’s first UNESCO City of Literature – one of only twenty in the world. UEA’s campus is a multicultural community with a varied social and cultural scene set in acres of green parkland. There are more than two hundred and fifty clubs and organizations for students to join.

The university offers students the chance improve their Spanish language proficiency through world class immersion in Spanish language and culture through its La Casa de las Lenguas, the university's language center. Students have the opportunity live with a host family while studying at the university, which is a great way to get to the know the local Asturian culture. Oviedo is a charming city near the northern coast of Spain surrounded by mountains and a stunning countryside.

LSE boasts an outstanding international reputation in History, Philosophy, Law, and Economics. Students will enroll in a two-semester general in which they focus on a particular academic area and take courses alongside local students. LSE is located in the heart of London immediately to the east are the commercial, financial, and legal centers in the City.

UCSC is the largest Private Institution in Europe and excels in the diverse study opportunities that it offers in the humanities as well as scientific fields. UCSC provides students with opportunities to engage in professional development through internship placements and other forms of experiential learning. Students will study in the historic city of Milan, the capital of Lombardy and Italy's richest, most populated and most economically active region.

Washington Semester Program provides students from any department the opportunity to live, intern, and study in the nation's capital. The program is housed at American University and courses are taught by AU faculty who have extensive networks in politics, international relations, business, and other fields of interest. WSP offers internships at Washington based agencies that allow students to see firsthand how policies are made and how organizations are run. Scholarship opportunities are available.

The Tahoe Semester is a study-away environmental humanities program.
Students take educational excursions to internationally recognized locations in California like Yosemite National Park and Morro Bay. Students study a curriculum of courses built around environmental science, humanistic inquiry, and social justice that celebrate the beauty and the wonder of the High Sierra and the indigenous people of that region. The Tahoe Semester program thus far has resulted in a remarkable educational opportunity that brings students and faculty together in a peaceful, natural setting to share classroom learning and wilderness experiences as a cohesive, intentional community.
Providers are organizations that create and administer study abroad programs. Providers assist with all aspects of the study abroad experience, from application, logistics such as course registration and securing accommodations, to reentry support and transcript evaluation. Many of these programs also include experiential learning opportunities such as internship placements, independent research, volunteering opportunities, and educational excursions. While providers differ, academic and social guidance is generally included throughout the duration of a program, such as orientation, support services, field trips and cultural activities. Westminster’s approved program providers greatly expand the study abroad opportunities available to students and assure the additional support students need throughout the study abroad process.
American Institute for Foreign Study (AIFS) https://www.aifsabroad.com/
AIFS Abroad offers a wide range of unique programs in Asia, Australia, Europe, South Africa and the Americas. AIFS Abroad campuses typically offer courses in English and/or in foreign languages from beginner to advanced levels, so you don’t even need to know a foreign language to have the opportunity to go abroad. Students can choose from a variety of semester and year long programs as well as programs during the summer and winter. Experiential and service learning opportunities are also available. Westminster students receive a discount of $400 for semester or year programs and $200 for summer programs as well AIFS opportunities for additional funding.

IES offers study abroad programs in more than 30+ locations throughout Africa, Asia, Australia, Europe, New Zealand, and South America. IES also offer a variety of full-time semester and summer internships in 15 locations around the world. IES provides Westminster student with numerous funding opportunities and awards millions in scholarships and grants every.

ISA offers a diverse portfolio of education abroad programs across Africa, Asia, Europe, Latin America, and the Pacific.Each year thousands of students participate in ISA programs, including; Internships & Service-Learning, Veritas Christian Study Abroad, and EuroScholars undergraduate research. Westminster students receive a Grant Fund of $200 for semester and summer programs as well as opportunities for additional funding.

Spanish Studies Abroad (SSA) https://spanishstudies.org/
SSA offers both intensive language study as well as the opportunity to take courses in English at programs in Spain (Seville, Alicante, and Barcelona); Córdoba, Argentina; Havana, Cuba; and San Juan, Puerto Rico. SSA offers semester long programs as well as short term programs of three to four weeks in January, May and summer months. Westminster students receive 10% off of their tuition.
