Director of Counseling
Jen Engle, LPC is the Director of Counseling at The Wellness Center. Jen was born in Oklahoma and lived in South Africa with her family during her adolescence, coming back to America to finish out her senior year of high school. She began her college career at Kansas State University in Manhattan, Kansas, and liked school so much that she stayed there, earning a bachelor's degree in psychology with a minor in English; followed by a master's degree in English/Creative Writing. Jen has taught in academia since 2009, starting in her master's program, and continuing to the present day. Through her passion for creative writing, she fell in love with psychotherapy and how trauma affected the brain. Jen later moved to Columbia and completed a master's degree in counseling at Stephens college, starting her counseling career working with residential youth and young adults in the foster care system, later moving to community counseling. Jen is experienced in working with depression, anxiety, religious trauma, grief counseling, and in helping students manage life stressors. She is an advocate of establishing safe spaces, meeting people where they’re at, and allowing clients room to grow.
