Learning Differences Program
The Learning Differences Program (LDP) was established at Westminster College in the 1970s with the goal of helping students with neurodevelopmental disorders succeed in the classroom.
Forty years later, our programs continue to provide encouragement and support for LDP students, which represent about 5% of our academic population. Faculty, staff, and administrators work together to assist students so that they thrive in the academic environment they share with regularly admitted students.
About Our LDP Services
LDP's services are tailored to meet the specific needs of students with professionally diagnosed neurodevelopmental disorders, including attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder, dyscalculia, dyslexia, learning disorder, and disorder of written expression.
LDP students can take advantage of specialized services, including one-on-one academic advising, dictation and audio notes, and a quiet and supportive study environment. LDP also offers enrollment in supplemental courses designed to encourage and support academic success as well as parent and family outreach services.
“We don’t make students fit the program. Every student is totally different and we work one-on-one to feel out what they need.”
Karen Tompson-Wolfe, Director, The Tomnitz Family Learning Opportunities Center
